Yesterday (August 29) Hywel Dda Health Board published the results of their public consultation on the future of our local hospital services.

You can view their findings by accessing the following link…

“There have been a number of health reorganisation and service cuts in recent years across the whole of the region. Instead of a divide and conquer, we now need to pull together and fight for the very best in all our communities.“In Llanelli, unfortunately we have already witnessed our health services being cut. We had a 33,000 signature petition to save the A&E a few years ago, and we were ignored. We can only hope that we’re not ignored now.

“The travelling distance to a proposed new hospital in the Whitland/Narberth/St Clears areas is worrying residents. Any further downgrade at Prince Philip would inevitably result in extra pressure being put on services at Morriston.

“We have to ask why there is such a gap between the promises made by those in power and what is actually happening here on the ground?

“We recently marked 70 years of our cherished NHS. The founding principles of our NHS were to be free and accessible to all at the point of delivery. Prince Philip Hospital must be a General Hospital and we must have a health service that works at its best for our staff, patients and their families here in Llanelli.
