Street Survey in Haverfordwest shows many want a Peopleâs Vote (second referendum) on EU Membership
Pembrokeshire for Europe held a street stall on Saturday, 1 September in Bridge Street, Haverfordwest to ask passers by what they felt about Brexit and how it was going.
Passers by were asked their views on 5 statements about Brexit and to plot these on a Brexitometer chart. The five statements are: âBrexit is going wellâ; âBrexit is good for Walesâ; âBrexit is good for the NHSâ; âBrexit is good for jobsâ; and âThere should be a People’s Vote on the final dealâ.
The response is recorded in the attached photograph. This shows that of those taking part, many did not consider Brexit was going well and supported our call for a People’s Vote (second referendum).
Alistair Cameron from Pembrokeshire for Europe said:
âWe recognise this is not a representative sample of everyone’s views. However, it does show that a large body of people in Haverfordwest on a Saturday morningdo want a People’s Vote (second referendum) once our terms for leaving the EU have been negotiated.
âAs a rural county reliant on farming, tourism and trade with Europe with strong links with Ireland, we believe Pembrokeshireâs interests are best served by remaining within the EU.
âWe hope our local Members of Parliament will consider this strong level of support for a Peopleâs Vote and vote for one in Parliament.â
