Welsh businesses tackle youth homelessness

• Welsh businesses raise £2,000 to help vulnerable children and young people at risk of homelessness at Byte Night Wales 5-a-side tournament

The second annual Byte Night Wales 5-a-side football tournament has raised £2,000 as part of the UK’s largest sponsored sleep out to help fight issues that can lead to youth homelessness. Source Insurance followed up last year’s win by lifting the trophy again with Admiral taking the Plate honours at Powerleague in Whitchurch, Cardiff on the 13th September.

The Byte Night Wales board invited teams from businesses across Wales to take part and the tournament included large corporations, SME’s and start-ups such as KPMG, Cap Gemini, Source, Admiral, Barclays, Circle IT, Spin Dogs, Acorn, Geldards and Skill Cert.

David Sadler, Head of IT Recruitment at Acorn and co-chair of the Byte Night Wales board, said: ‘Powerleague was a brilliant venue for a fiercely fought competition and I was delighted we raised £2,000 for Byte Night, doubling last year’s total.

‘We played for the children and young people who need it most in our communities ahead of the big Byte Night sleepout next month where we’ll have 150 people having a night under stars raising even more money and awareness for Byte Night. A huge thanks to all who took part and helped raise so much money for a great cause.’

Byte Night returns to Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Friday October 5th with Welsh professionals working in business and IT-related sectors being set the challenge of spending a night exposed to the elements.
