At today’s full meeting of Carmarthenshire County Counil, the Labour Group backed that the Council write to the Welsh Government Health Minister, Mark Drakeford AM, asking him to meet with a cross party group of Councillors from Carmarthenshire.
This follows the Labour’s motion to the full Council last month expressing the County Council’s concern regarding Hywel Dda local health board’s proposed changes to Carmarthenshire’s health services.
In the meeting last month, Councillor Deryk Cundy proposed that:
“The Council express its concern regarding the proposed changes to the health service, and its impact on local authority services”. His motion was passed unanimously and sparked cross party discussions on a response to Hywel Dda’s proposals.
The Labour group’s concerns about changes to Prince Phillip Hospital and the impact on Council care services, have already been will be discussed with the Minister via written correspondence, and Mr Drakeford has already responded to the Labour Group’s previous correspondence positively.
Councillors have now requested a meeting to put across the strength of feeling in the County about keeping local services, and concerns about the consultation process.
