How did you first get involved in your sport?

Parents are cyclist/coach and from watching it on TV.

What does a typical week look like for you?

  • Monday – recovery.
  • Tuesday – hard intervals on indoor trainer then track racing at Newport Velodrome from January – 2 hours.
  • Wednesday – 1 hour group training ride with standing starts beforehand then racing across Wales with senior Elite riders in spring and summer.
  • Thursday – structured quality training at Newport Velodrome (winter). Racing at Castle Combe spring/summer.
  • Friday – easy technique session on indoor trainer.
  • Saturday – 3 hour road ride – race from spring.
  • Sunday – 4 hour road ride, race from spring – school.
  • Monday to Friday with homework.

What do you enjoy the most about being a sportsperson?

I enjoy winning (over 20 races this year) and I enjoy being very active.

What are your targets for the next 12 months?

British Champion, race in Europe.

What are your long term aims?

World champion, Olympic champion, European champion, pro bike rider.

Who is your sporting hero?

Mark Cavendish – because he is the fastest rider on the planet.

What do you do in your free time?

Well apart from all the above! Relax watching bit of tv, music. Watch cycling videos and read magazines. Visit friends at local cycling club.

How would a SportsAid award help you this year?

To pay for travelling costs to training sessions, sometimes twice weekly to Newport Velodrome and monthly to Olympic Talent Team sessions in Manchester/Scotland.
