  • Lee visited the school after the Active Travel Crew wrote him a letter asking for his help.
  • The Active Travel Crew are requesting that the current 20mph signs outside the school be extended- they currently begin at 8.40 and finish at 9.15.  However, with the school’s breakfast club beginning at 8, they feel it would be safer for the children if the time started at 8am.
  • The Crew also want new signage to make it clearer to passing vehicles that they are driving past a school.
  • Lee has agreed to champion their cause and write to the Local Authority to urge the council to take on board these actions so that the area outside the school is safer for pupils to walk, cycle or scoot to school.
  • Lee said: “I am impressed by the Active Journeys crew at Ysgol Tycroes. They’ve been working with Sustrans to encourage more people to scoot, walk and cycle to school and wanted to discuss with me the problem of speeding traffic outside the school.”
