Man charged with murder following Aberystwyth hotel fire
Damion Anthony Harris, aged 31, of Llanbadarn in Aberystwyth, has been charged with the murder of Juozas Tunaitis following the fire at the Belgrave House Hotel in Aberystwyth on July 25, 2018.
He has also been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to another hotel guest.
He will appear via video link at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Thursday, October 4).
Mr Tunaitis had been in Aberystwyth as a contractor working as a fire safety officer at the university.
His family has been informed of the charge, and are being supported by officers. They have expressed their thanks to all emergency services involved in the response to the fire and the investigation.
An inquest will open into Mr Tunaitis’s death tomorrow.
Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Neil Jenkins said:
