Success for Llanelli and Mid Powys Mind in the NatWest Community Fund
Â
Llanelli Mind and Mid Powys Mind have already been successful in the NatWest Community Fund but now they need your vote.
Â
Local Mind associations provide essential services to people in communities who experience mental distress and also promote the value of good mental health and wellbeing for everyone.  Both Llanelli and Mid Powys Mind have made it into the last three charities in their local areas and will be given awards of £1,000. However, with enough votes, this could be trebled to £3,000. Members of the public living in Mid Powys and Llanelli can vote in their local branches of NatWest (Bank House, Builth Wells and Stepney Street, Llanelli), or online by visiting https://communityfund.natwest.com/Vote/Details and entering their post code. Voting closes on Friday 26 November 2010.
Â
In July 2010, NatWest asked people nominate charities and projects making a big difference in their local communities. All eligible nominations submitted were reviewed by regional panels made up of staff, local people and community leaders, who have decided on a shortlist of three for each local area.
Â
Wendy King, Centre Manager at Llanelli Mind, said “We’re delighted that Llanelli Mind has been selected by the NatWest Community Fund. This money will make a real difference to local people and will help to support our services.â€
Â
April Cullen, Director of Mind Powys Mind, commented “This is great news for people living in Mid Powys and we’re really pleased that the important work of Mid Powys Mind has been recognised by local people and NatWest. In the current economic climate, this funding is especially welcome.â€
Â
Lindsay Foyster, Director of Mind Cymru, said “It’s fantastic news that two of our local Mind associations have been successful in these awards, particularly given the difficult financial circumstances we are all facing. With one in four people experiencing mental distress in their lifetime, local Mind associations provide vital support in local communities. We strongly encourage everyone in these areas to vote for Llanelli and Mid Powys Mind.â€
