Bohemian Rhapsody Review.

I’ve been a fan of Queen for as long as I can remember. And as a fan, I can say with no bias that this film does Freddie Mercury and the rest of Queen True Justice. Not only did Rami Malek play the very impressive Freddie Mercury, but the rest of the cast, in my opinion, gave a top rate performance. Gwilym Lee is very convincing as Bryan May as certain profiles were so uncanny you would almost think he was the real deal, along with Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor and Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon. As I was watching these four guys on the screen I felt as if I was watching Queen themselves.

I can’t say I’ve ever really followed the full history of Queen which is why I pretty much jumped at the chance to learn some new information about these musical legends. For instance, I always knew that Freddie was gay but never knew that he was married to a woman named Mary Austin. This role was played by the very talented Lucy Boynton (who some of you may remember from a Law and Order UK and 2017s Murder on the Orient Express) Boynton emanates presence on the screen and I can’t think of anyone more perfect for the part. Also, It was great to see Mike Myers in the movie, It was really difficult to recognize him, to begin with, but considering the history he has with Queen in Wayns World and it was a real treat to watch him.

Now let me just say that this is possibly the best documentary drama I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. I can’t understand why the critics are slating this film but please don’t listen to what they’re saying. Although it’s doubtful it will get an Oscar nomination, I suspect that Queen fandom will not agree, and I hope and pray that the BAFTA’s will not let Freddie, Queen, and their fans down

(Fun little fact) Did you know that Bryan May’s guitar was built and given to him by his father? It was actually built from bits and bobs around the house.
