The Grinch Review.
Written by Adam Roberts.
Being a hardcore Benedict Cumberbatch fan, I absolutely dove at the chance to review this film. He
blew me away on just how Grinch like he sounded, and I really wasn’t sure if his voice would fit the
part when I first heard he was up for the role. I had such a fun time with this film and I feel he really
captured the essence of the character.
Comparing this to Jim Carrey’s Grinch back in the year 2000, I am sad to say that I now find his
version way too over the top which is unfortunate considering that Carrey is a complete comedy legend. This year The Grinch is more toned down and, in my opinion, just a little less darker than when Carrey took on the role which I feel will be a lot more appealing to people of all ages.
Joining Cumberbatc in this year’s movie as (Cindy-Lou Who) is Cameron Seely who you may
remember as one of the Barnum daughters in 2017s The Greatest Showman along side Rashida
Jones as (Donna Who) from American hit TV series Parks and Recreation. I really enjoyed these
characters in this film. It’s so much fun. It’s a laugh a minute and I really don’t think Dr Seuss himself
could be prouder.
I give The Grinch Fantasy/Musical a solid ten out of ten and if you go to see it I guarantee you’ll have a lot of fun!
Thanks for reading, Adam.
