NEWS UPDATE – DETECTIVES CARRY OUT MURDER INVESTIGATION OF MISSING MAN

NEWS UPDATE

South Wales Police is continuing to investigate the disappearance of an Algerian man last seen Cardiff.

Detectives are carrying out a murder investigation as there have been no sightings of Mohamed Megherbi (pictured) since Tuesday, October the 9th in Roath.

A 26-year-old man from Llanedeyrn was arrested on Tuesday, November 20 on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody at Cardiff Bay Police Station.

Despite extensive enquiries, Mr Megherbi, who has strong links to northwest London, has not been found and there is no proof of life.

A property in Pennsylvania, Llanedeyrn has been subject of a full forensic examination and the surrounding area has also been searched as part of the on-going police investigation.

An incident room has been set up at Cardiff Central Police Station.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Morgan, of the South Wales Police Major Crime Investigation Team said: “We have serious concerns for the welfare of Mohamed Megherbi who is originally from Algeria and had recently been living in Newport Road, Roath.

“We have no information in relation to any family he might have so as yet have not been able to trace next of kin.

“We are urging anyone who knows him, anyone who may have seen him, or Mr Megherbi himself to please contact us or their nearest police station.

“We are grateful for the support of the local community while searches were recently carried out in Llanedeyrn.”
