A POT of money worth over £60,000 is set to make a difference to the environment in communities across Carmarthenshire.
The county council’s Housing department has been successful in its bid for funding under the Local Environmental Quality grant scheme, administered by the Welsh Government’s Tidy Town’s initiative.
The money will be used on a number of projects at housing sites across the county.
It will pay for phase three of a project to clear rubbish from an old railway line at Bro’r Orsaf, Llanfihangel Ar Arth; and phase two of woodland improvements at Heol Llethryd, Pontyberem.
Land near the river at Ffordd Aneurin, Pontyberem, at Y Fron in Cefneithin and at Llanelli’s Pen Y Bryn gypsy and traveller site, will also be cleared for community use.
Executive Board Member for Housing, Cllr Tegwen Devichand, has welcomed the funds.
“We are fortunate to have secured this funding which will allow us to carry out further improvements for the benefit of several communities across Carmarthenshire,” she said.
“Tenants and residents in areas where we have already carried out improvement works have been keen to get involved and play their part in make their area a better place to live, and we hope this enthusiasm will continue with this new pot of funding.”
