Rock Choir, the UK’s largest contemporary choir, is inviting members of the general public from Llanelli a chance to boost their natural high and beat the winter blues this January by taking part in a free Rock Choir session!

With no audition and no need to read music Rock Choir has already attracted nearly 30,000 members nationwide and is recognised as an award-winning national brand. It is considered to be responsible for creating a cultural musical movement offering a unique and glamorous alternative to the traditional choir format. Rock Choir’s uplifting ethos of fun, friendship and community spirit is a huge part of its attraction and its inclusive and accessible teaching approach allows anyone who simply loves pop-music to take part.

Offering this opportunity to everyone in Llanelli will offer individuals a chance to experience the significant natural high that is created from singing in a group. A recent experiment conducted by BBC’s ‘Trust Me I’m a Doctor’ proved that Rock Choir Members experienced a dramatic rise of 40% in Endocannabinoids, the ‘happy’ chemicals released in our brain, after taking part in a Rock Choir session. This significant result was compared to just 20% up-lift after they had taken part in dancing and cycling and should have a profound effect on the way our well-being and mental health is supported from now on.

Local Rock Choir Members from Llanelli recently performed at Croeso Lounge, Mumbles and also entertained hundreds in the crowds as the Mumbles and Carmarthen Christmas lights were switched on. Rock Choir Members are offered a wide-variety of social and performance events and can get involved in as much as they like from the busy Rock Choir calendar! Many Llanelli ‘Rockies’ travelled to London’s Hyde Park in September to take part in a special BBC/Rock Choir Flash Mob at the iconic Prom’s in the Park. Drawing an audience of 40,000 it was the largest Flash Mob ever witnessed in the UK with over 12,500 Rock Choir Members from across the UK taking part.

Rock Choir recently experienced a No.1 chart position in the iTunes Christmas chart with their contemporary arrangement of The First Noel/Silent Night in aid of Nordoff Robbins. Rock Choir Founder, Caroline Redman Lusher, and The Rock Choir Vocal Group made up of her team of 80 professional choir-leader singers including local Leader Dan Rogers have also enjoyed many high-profile performances and interviews on TV and Radio including opening the 2018 BBC Proms in the Park. Caroline and the Rock Choir Vocal Group took to the stage accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra and live on Radio 2, entertained the audience of 40,000!

ROCK CHOIR HISTORY:

• Rock Choir began in Farnham, Surrey in 2005 by musician and singer, Caroline Redman Lusher, pioneering the contemporary choir movement in the UK.
• It was the first choir to offer the general public the chance to sing pop and chart songs with no entry audition and no requirements to read music or have any previous singing experience.
• Rock Choir offers an alternative experience to the traditional classical or community choir.
• With over 28,000 members in over 400 local communities, Rock Choir is the UK’s largest contemporary choir.
• It is much more than a choir, it’s a multi layered singing experience. The power of music, meeting new friends and performing at life changing events together contribute to an emotional and powerful journey for our members.

ROCK CHOIR’S RECORDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS:

Universal Decca records released two Rock Choir albums in 2010 and 2011. ‘Rock Choir Vol.1’ reached position 18 in the UK charts.

Rock Choir released a Christmas single in 2018, The First Noel/Silent Night, in aid of Nordoff Robbins and achieved a no.1 chart position in the iTunes Christmas charts.

Rock Choir has achieved three Guinness World Records:

1) ‘The largest musical act to release an Album (signed)’

2) ‘The biggest hit act in the UK’

3) ‘The largest song and dance routine held at multiple venues’.

Rock Choir was the subject of the popular 3-part ITV1 documentary ‘The Choir That Rocks’ aired in 2011 now available to view on YouTube. The cameras followed Founder, Caroline Redman Lusher, on a 6-month epic journey leading 8000 Rock Choir Members to perform at their most prolific event to date.

Rock Choir was awarded the ‘Big Heart’ award at the Family Business Red Ribbon Awards, which recognises businesses intrinsically generous and passionate about volunteering, fundraising and positively impacting the local community.

Founder Caroline Redman Lusher was made an Ambassador of the largest UK music therapy charity, Nordoff Robbins in 2018.

She was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Letters by the London College of Music in 2017 for her contribution to British Music.
In 2017 Caroline was placed in the Smith & Williamson Power 100, celebrating those who champion British entrepreneurship.

Caroline was given the Freedom Of London in 2016

In 2016 Caroline was invited to become one of 100 Founding Members of the Guild of Entrepreneurs, representing the arts and music.
In 2012, Caroline Redman Lusher was honoured with a Gold Badge Award by the British Association of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) in association with the Performing Rights Society (PRS) This prestigious music industry award was given to Caroline in recognition of her exceptional contribution to British music.
