Race on to find county’s sporting stars

THE race has begun to find Carmarthenshire’s sporting stars of 2013.

Thirteen categories of awards will be made at 2013 Sports Personality ceremony in January.

This is a chance to nominate any athlete, team, coach or volunteer who should be recognised for their efforts.

The ceremony recognises sporting achievements of athletes, coaches and volunteers in Carmarthenshire providing an opportunity to congratulate and honour the county’s accomplished sports stars.

The county’s sports development team in partnership with Carmarthenshire Local Sports Council organises the annual event.

The 2013 Awards are being held on 29th January 2014 at the Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli.

The awards recognise the sporting achievements of athletes, coaches and volunteers in Carmarthenshire providing an opportunity to congratulate and honour the county’s accomplished sports people.

The categories are:

Sports Personality; Young Sportsman; Young Sportswoman; Disabled Sportsman; Disabled Sportswoman; High Performance Sports Coach of the Year; Community Sports Coach of the Year (a new award for 2012); Sports Volunteer; Young Sports Volunteer; Team of the year; Young Team of the year; The Ryan Jones memorial award for outstanding services to sport and Carmarthenshire Sporting Hall of Fame. This category provides an opportunity to honour sportsmen, sportswomen and others from Carmarthenshire who have contributed to the legacy of sport and who are an inspiration for the next generation of sporting champions.

All nominations will be assessed by a panel and the winners announced during the awards on in January.
