Llanelli Music Scene’s band of the month night for September took place on Saturday 28th September at the Music Scene’s flagship venue the Kilkenny Cat.
Three bands were originally scheduled to play the night however Tidal Reach pulled out last minute due to one of their members being ill.
Polar Nights a young band from Neath who describe themselves as an experimental progressive rock band opened the evening playing their first ever gig in Llanelli and their third gig together as a band. Polar Nights performed a set consisting of their own original songs which were well played, with a good melodic sound and snippets of heavy rhythm guitar with some good guitar solos thrown in. Watch out for this band on the scene.
27 Cobalt headlined the night playing their second Llanelli gig since reforming earlier this year following a lengthy hiatus of over a decade .
Sounding like they have never been away, 27 Cobalt put on a great rockin’ set showcasing their original songs including Model, Better Looking than I Look and Twelve Rounds with Satan to name but a few. Kudos to bass player Jason who despite a back injury managed to play the set like to true professional and entertain the crowds. Check out this band at a venue near you soon !!
All round a brilliant night.
Catch 27 Cobalt and Polar Nights alongside Nine Plan Failed at the Masons Arms on Friday 18th October for the Llanelli Music Scene hijack night!!
