Introducingā€¦ Ida Mae

Release New Single ā€˜If You Donā€™t Love Meā€™ through Thirty Tigers

Play Omeara 13th March

ā€œSonically, there are very few bands that can display such raw talent as Ida Mae did in this setā€¦(they) were completely untouchable.ā€ ā€“ Impact Nottingham

ā€œIda Mae simply win you over.ā€ ā€“ Tap The Feed

ā€œSometimes you see a band live for the first time and it completely hits the spot. This was one such occasion.ā€ ā€“ Leeds Living

Fresh back from two months touring in the States and with the announcement of their first UK tour in March, husband and wife duo, Ida Mae, (Chris Turpin and Stephanie Jean) release their new single ā€˜If You Donā€™t Love Meā€™ through Thirty Tigers today.

Listen to ā€˜If You Donā€™t Love Meā€™ HERE

Ida Maeā€™s magic lies in the sensuous dovetailing of two voices and the intimacy of their songs. Chris’ vocals are reminiscent of a Faceā€™s era Rod Stewart or Steve Marriott, while Stephanie combines the delicacy of Patty Griffin with the effortless rock-chic of Alison Mosshart. Singing together, the couple have an unusual ā€˜which-is-whichā€™ dynamic.

After finding critical acclaim with Kill It Kid, touring the world as newlyweds and working closely with legendary A&R man Seymour Stein, Chris and Stephanie have recently finished recording their debut album with acclaimed producer and friend Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams / Ray Lamontagne / Kings Of Leon / Laura Marling) which is set to be released in early Summer of 2019 through Thirty Tigers.

Touring highlights as Ida Mae include support slots with The Lone Bellow, Nick Mulvey, Nikki Lane, The Marcus King Band, Will Varley and Greta Van Fleet. They have also played Emmylou Harris’s Woofstock Festival & Kings Of Leon’s Harvest Night in Nashville. Ida Mae play the following UK & Ireland dates:

January 2019
Thu 24th                               GLASGOW, Celtic Connections @ Hug and Pint
March 2019
Sat 9th                                 BRISTOL, The Louisiana
Mon 11th                              MANCHESTER, Eagle Inn
Tues 12th                             NORWICH, Norwich Arts Centre
Wed 13th                              LONDON, Omeara

Starting off simply with Chrisā€™ sweet vocals accompanied on guitar, ā€˜If You Donā€™t Love Meā€™ gradually builds into a crescendo of pure bliss. Stephanieā€™s vocals beautifully weave over the top of Chrisā€™ falsetto resulting in a balanced, humble sound.

ā€œThis is one of the first songs we wrote for the record,ā€ the duo said of the new single. ā€œEthan encouraged us to perform very intimate vocal takes, everyone playing live side by side in the same room late at night. ā€˜If You Donā€™t Love Meā€™ embodies the simplicity and honesty of the record as a whole. We worked to marry uncommon sonic textures on the record, spanning the decades of our influences. This can be heard in the organic sound of my 1930s National Duolian steel guitar and a 1980s digital auto harp.ā€

Tickets for their European and UK tour are on sale now.
