Deal or No Deal – Are You Covered?

With Brexit soon approaching, there is an uncertainty around how a no-deal Brexit may affect holidaymaker’s 2019 travel plans, especially as few travel insurance providers are guaranteeing to pay-out for related claims.

Traditional travel insurance may exclude any trip disruption as a result of Brexit or security issues. This means travellers could face spending hours waiting for delayed flights, leaving booked accommodation empty and excursions missed, and not receive a penny back.

Brits’ main worries are around travel disruption, the ‘open skies’ agreement, changes to bookings and unused accommodation / excursions after March 29th. The government has also urged travellers to buy travel insurance as the EHIC alone may not be valid in certain EU countries. Considering the average holiday in Europe costs £700pp, with an average medical bill of £850 that is increasing, holidaymakers could be seriously out of pocket should they need to cancel their trip or receive medical care abroad, without the right cover. Additionally, drone chaos at airports creates further insecurity for holidaymakers as travel insurance policies rarely cover this form of trip disruption.

Postcard Travel Insurance is one of few that covers cancellation and trip disruption for any unforeseen causes, including Brexit, drones and sudden changes to bookings – it even guarantees claims settlement within 48 hours.

Sarah Page, Postcard Brand Manager, said: “Postcard policies have been developed to match the expectations of the consumer regardless of trip type and current affairs, such as Brexit, providing higher levels of cover than other providers. We cover the concerns listed by consumers as well as other eventualities.

“Postcard gives the public what they want, namely more cover, no jargon and less exclusions. This reassures all travellers, especially those travelling with Brexit fears.

If you are travelling after March 29th, we urge you to talk to your insurance provider to see if you’re covered.”
