CHILDREN took part in a baking hot story session at Llanelli childrenās library as part of the celebrations for Childrenās Book Week.
Local childrenās author Wendy White read a delightful collection of stories from her new book Welsh Cakes and Custard at Llanelli Childrenās Library.
The children had the chance to chat to Wendy after the story time session and nibble on Welsh cakes that Wendy had brought along.
Children’s Book Week is a celebration of reading for pleasure for children of primary school age. The event has been running for the past 80 years, with events and activities aimed at encouraging children to view reading as a source of pleasure.
Childrenās Librarian, Lesley Cresswell, said: āWe were very pleased to work with Wendy, to give children the chance to meet a real author. Hopefully this will inspire them to carry on reading and coming to the library, and even to have a go at writing their own stories.ā
Executive Board Member for Heritage and Libraries, Cllr Meryl Gravell, added: āWe hope that the children have been inspired by meeting Wendy White and discover that reading is pleasurable and fun.ā
Wendy White will hold a similar event at Ammanford Library on Tuesday, October 29, at 11am.
