Carmarthenshire County Council is consulting on draft Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) prepared in respect of the Caeau Mynydd Mawr Special Area of Conservation (SAC) in relation to the Adopted Carmarthenshire Unitary Development Plan (UDP).
The SPG provides a framework through which appropriate land is managed as supporting habitat for the marsh fritillary butterfly. In delivering this management of land it seeks to establish a transparent and consistent mechanism in securing contributions from proposed developments towards this habitat management within a defined SPG area centred around and including the settlements of Cross Hands, Gorslas, Cefneithin and Tumble.
This SPG been prepared in conjunction with a range of partners, including Natural Resources Wales and on adoption will represent a material consideration in the determination of any forthcoming planning applications within the SPG Area.
Forward Planning & Conservation Manager Jon Timothy said: “The publication and consultation of the SPG recognises the important inter- relationship that can exist between development and biodiversity and provides an important opportunity for residents and interested parties to comment on its content.”
Copies are also available for inspection, free of charge, during normal opening hours at the Public Libraries of Cross Hands, Llanelli, Ammanford, Llandeilo, Pontyberem, Llangennech and Carmarthen.
The consultation will commence on Wednesday 23 October 2013. Representations should be submitted and received in writing, no later than 4.30pm on Friday 6 December 2013, to the Forward Planning and Conservation Manager, Council Offices, 8 Spilman Street, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, SA31 1JY or via e-mail to forward.planning@carmarthenshire.gov.uk.
