A MAN has been fined £75 for failing to clean up after his dog along the Millennium coastal path in Burry Port.
Council environmental enforcement officers were on patrol in the area on Saturday when they witnessed the offence.
The 63-year-old was issued with a fixed penalty notice. However, if he fails to pay it he will be prosecuted in court where the maximum fine is £1,000.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Anyone that fails to clean up after their dog in a public place will be fined.
“Not only is it extremely unpleasant if you step in it, but dog mess could lead to serious health problems in some circumstances.
“The Millennium Coastal Park is a popular visitor attraction for families and children and our officers will continue to target the area.
“Keeping the county clean and safe is a top priority for the council.”
