Postcard Travel Insurance will cover travellers through Brexit transition

New research released today claims 12 major travel insurance providers could not guarantee a pay-out for Brexit-related claims. However Postcard Travel Insurance has announced it will cover holidaymakers for cancellation or disruption caused by the Brexit transition.

Traditional travel insurance may exclude any trip disruption as a result of Brexit or security issues. This means travellers could face spending hours waiting for delayed flights, leaving booked accommodation empty and excursions missed, and not receive a penny back.

Brits’ main worries are around travel disruption, the ‘open skies’ agreement, scheduled airline failure, changes to bookings, passport or VISA validity and unused accommodation / excursions after March 29th. The government has also urged travellers to buy travel insurance as the EHIC alone may not be valid in certain EU countries.

The average holiday in Europe costs £700pp, with an average medical bill of £850 if the traveller needs medical assistance. So holidaymakers could be seriously out of pocket should they need to cancel their trip or receive medical care while on holiday.

Postcard Travel Insurance is one of few that covers cancellation and trip disruption for any unforeseen and unavoidable causes, including Brexit, scheduled airline failure, drones and sudden changes to bookings – it even guarantees claims settlement within 48 hours.

Sarah Page, Postcard Brand Manager said: “Postcard policies have been developed by travellers, for travellers, to match the expectations of the consumer regardless of trip type and current affairs, such as Brexit, providing higher levels of cover than other providers. We cover the concerns listed by consumers as well as other eventualities.

“Postcard gives the public what they want, namely more cover, no jargon and less exclusions. This reassures all travellers that there is no grey area when it comes to paying their claim, especially those travelling with Brexit fears.”
