Captain Marvel Review

With the first in a predicted upcoming line of female lead roles in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) Brie Larson started it off as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel  without a hitch. Seeing her origin story come to light for the first time was just so enjoyable to see. And I look forward to seeing how she develops in future movies as there is so much I feel they can do with her character.
A testament to how Marvel Studios out do themselves with every additional MCU movie, they dedicated a beautiful tribute to the great late Stan Lee, the Godfather of Marvel Comics. I won’t tell you how they made the dedication but trust me, it was very touching. Or it was in my opinion.
There are also a lot of thrills and giggles in this feature along with some twists and turns. Plus you won’t believe how Nick Fury ended up losing his eye. Samuel L. Jackson was so entertaining as always and with the age regression technology Marvel Studios used for his role is just pure cinematic magic. I really felt I was watching a younger S. L. Jackson from the 90s. And the same goes for Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson. Although I can’t really say I’ve seen much of his stuff from the 90s but you get what I’m saying right?
Staring along side Larson is Jude Law (Yon-Rogg), who I found an enjoyable character, and I hope he returns for the sequel. Ben Mendelsohn (Talos / Keller), I also ejoyed his character and I found him to be quite amusing on a few ocasions. Also featuring in Captain Marvel is a look back at Ronan the Acuser played by Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou as Korath who you will remember from Guardians of the Galaxy. It was kinda cool to see them back in the MCU. Even though this was a couple of decades previous.
This really is a film for the history books as it leads into gender equallity for superhero movies. I mean what’s next, She-Hulk? Bat Woman? Spider-Woman? I know that Black Widow is in the works and I must say, that is a movie I’m looking forward to! It’s about time she got her own solo project. I firmly believe that this is a game changer for the future of the MCU and when Avengers Endgame comes around in April, we may see something very special. I give Captain Marvel 10/10. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Thanks for reading.
