If only this gate had the power to speak,
How many secrets could it leak?
If only this gate had the power to squawk
And recount its tales of seditious talk
If only this gate had the power to chant,
To tell us of preachers who’d rave and rant.
If only this gate had the power to shout,
About past councils who our rights did flout.
If only this gate had the power to say,
Carpe diem, Llanelli, seize the day!
