Music Scene Night Steboneath Club 9th November 2013

Llanelli Music Scene took over Steboneath Club on Saturday 9th November for their first live music event at the venue. On the night there was an unplanned change to the advertised acts as two of the performers withdrew from the event at the last minute leaving Cazanova, Searching for David and The Ride to fill the night with their live sets.

The acts performed to an ample crowd starting with solo artist Cazanova who opened the night by performing his original songs set to eclectic backing tracks. Cazanova’s music consists of elements of dance and rap, topped with his unique vocals, think Britain’s got Talent contestant Zipparah Tafari singing Where’s My Keys, Where’s My Phone? Different, catchy and memorable.

Next up was the four piece rock band Searching for David who only formed earlier this year but they are already making a popular name for themselves on the local Music Scene. I have seen Searching for David play live numerous times and I do not think it is possible to say that this band get better each time they play because they always sound great. As usual the band performed a very lively and energetic set of original songs including the popular tunes Science Fiction and Marching In. Following requests for an encore, after a false start to the song, Searching for David played an awesome cover of the Nirvana song Territorial Pissings and they were unexpectedly joined mid song by two of their friends who ran and jumped on the stage and hijacked the mics and sung a few lines of the song before both jumping back off the stage again. Rock and roll!

Playing their first Llanelli gig and headlining the night was three piece pop, rock band The Ride. The band announced that they have only been together for five months and you would never have guessed that given the precision of the songs they covered.

The Ride played one melodic original rock song and a full set of cover songs by artists including Robbie Williams, Amy Winehouse, The Red Hot Chilli Pepper, and the Jackson Five. The highlight of their set was a medley tune which included The Black eyed Peas song I Gotta Feeling, Katy Perry’s Firework, The All American Rejects Dirty Little Secret, The Monkees I’m a Believer and Bruno Mars Just the Way You Are. An all round, well played entertaining set.

Now that The Ride have played their first Llanelli gig I think we will be seeing more of this band at local music venues around the town and I think they certainly make an ideal pub band for the masses.

Live Music Carnival weekend 22nd and 23rd November

Carnival night certainly brought together the local community for a great night which including many live music acts performing on the Scarlet FM stage in Spring Gardens. Act included school choirs, Missy B, Ragsey and many others. Heading up the Scarlet FM stage for the evening was Llanelli and Carmarthenshire Battle of the Band winners Zookeepers who following their set went on to perform another 6 song live set inside The Vestry .

Also performing at the Vestry was well known local DJ Jorddy. He was followed by Gilly who sung and played guitar beautifully supported by Killian on drums and Matt on bass ( both from Zookeepers)

On Saturday 23rd November  I watched the female fronted Truth Seeking Conspiracy and three piece powerhouse Trunk shot perform live in the Masons Arms .The bands performed to a happy crowd with positive feedback all round.

Comments from Pub goers included

Keith Warren said he thought Truth Seeking Conspiracy put on an upbeat and easy to enjoy set.

Claire Davies said Truth Seeking Conspiracy reminded her of Paramour but only better !

Naomi Samuel said that Trunkshot were a great band and were the best upbeat pop punk music that she had heard in a while !

Dan Yudowitz said Trunkshot got the crowd going and the sound was good. He went on to add that they were a really good rock band!

At the Kazbar !

Down at the Kazbar on the same night two great rock bands Idiot Box and 27 Cobalt performed great sets at the venue.

Scott Southernwood said that Idiot Box played really good, punk music and he enjoyed their set.

27 Cobalt headlined the evening with their catchy and easy to listen to tunes. Great to see some live Music at the Kazbar, heres to more live music at the venue in the future.
