At this time of year, thieves are on the lookout for easy targets and officers in Carmarthenshire are reminding householders to protect the belongings, especially bicycles.

“We’ve had a few instances now of bikes being stolen having been left insecure,” said Sergeant Jolene Mann. “There have also been occasions where sheds and garages have been broken into and bikes taken.

“This is just to remind bike owners to make sure their cycles are properly secured. Use a good quality lock to secure the bike when unattended and please make sure outbuildings where they are kept are also properly secure.

“You can also think about getting your bike marked with your details. You can do this by contacting your local neighbourhood policing officers who can advise you where and when to take your bike to have a non-tamper identity sticker applied.”
