DYFED-POWYS POLICE STATEMENT:
Incident in Seaside, Llanelli
“We are aware of some concern in relation to an incident in Llanelli, this morning (March 26).
“We were called to Burry Street, shortly after 2am today in response to a man making threatening comments.
“Firearms officers attended the scene and engaged with the man, who they subsequently arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and conveyed to hospital as a precaution. He currently remains in police custody.
“The matter has been referred to the IOPC who will conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances of this incident.
“A cross bow was recovered from the scene but we would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else.
“We appreciate the police cordon closed a large area of Seaside, which caused some disruption today. All scenes have now been released and we would we would like to thank the community for their support while vital initial enquiries were being conducted.
“A police presence remains in the area while house to house enquiries are carried out. The neighbourhood policing team are in the area to provide reassurance.
“Anyone with information is urged to speak to a police officer or PCSO, or call 101.”
