TRAILER REVIEW

Finally! We have a glimpse of Quentin Tarantino’s long anticipated 9th film and the setting of the critically-acclaimed director’s film is Hollywood in the late 1960s. With an awesome cast of actors, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margaret Robbie, I am certain this film will be as much a treat to watch when it releases sometime in July.

Although, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and instead focus our attention on the trailer. It starts off an interview of Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) in what looks to be a film set. In said interview we hear our characters answering a question about what a stunt-doubles job is, Dalton remarking that an actor is required to do a lot of “dangerous stuff”, before doing a momentary transition to shots of him firing a gun from the back of a truck and as well as a wild west gunfight, before cutting back to the interview with him mentioning that Cliff Booth is there to help “carry the load” which then leads into a joke about his remark, so as per usual we’ll be seeing our fair share of humour throughout, like any good Quentin Tarantino film which many will be happy to hear.

Next we see a couple more quick looks at our characters as well as a few shots of what looks to be an amazingly authentic recreation of Los Angeles in the 1960s with either bright flashing lights, vibrantly painted buildings or even both in most of the shots we see. Not to mention remaining faithful to the cars driven at the time and how people dressed at the time, even including the partying and large crowds of people.

Following this we get a glimpse of Bruce Lee who Mike Moh does a tremendous job imitating as he talks about how “his hands are registered as lethal weapons” mentioning how if he’d accidentally kill someone he’d go to jail with Brad Pitt saying that what he said applies to anybody saying truthfully that “it’s called man-slaughter” which I found to be pretty funny, directly afterwards we get a pretty entertaining sneak-peek of the two fighting.

We get a short montage of scenes in the film giving you a better idea of what you can expect to see in the film with some enjoyable music playing in the background. Before the trailer ends with a little girl next to Leonardo DiCaprio as she says that is the “best acting I’ve ever seen”, then cutting to him openly crying after the high praise which I thought was truly well acted by Leonardo, although I expected no less from him.

I cannot wait for this film! With how this is directed by Quentin Tarantino and is filled with a swarm of exceptional actors, utilizing an amazing setting and time period. All of this leads me to believe this film will be nothing less than amazing, but we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to check out this trailer every so often as I really enjoyed watching it and still do thanks in no small part because of the amazing editing and music.
