Llanelli Rural Council members are pictured along with members of the former Committee for the Improvement of Hospital Services outside Prince Phillip Hospital as part of its campaign to hold the Hywel Dda University Health Board to account over its transformation of health services agenda.

In support of this aim Llanelli Rural Council has recently invited a range of stakeholders to Council meetings to share concerns about potential amendments to operational plans and services at Prince Phillip Hospital. The Council has also met with Health Board officials to inform them of its intentions to scrutinise its decision making processes and plans in regard to local health services and has asked the Health Board for a seat on its project management group so it can oversee the work.

Following a recent meeting with the Hywel Dda Community Health Council held to discuss areas of mutual collaboration in anticipation of the Health Board publishing its detailed operational plan; one of the Council’s next steps will be inviting back senior Health Board officials to a future meeting to discuss in some detail its strategy for developing primary care services such as GP services and the community hub initiative. In this regard the Community Health Council has also agreed to meet with the council once again within the next six months.
