Haven holiday parks across the country and their official supermarket partner, Nisa, have together raised £11,441 during 2018, which will be donated to the RNLI to help towards the vital lifesaving work they undertake. Haven’s North Wales holiday parks contributed £970.70 of this total towards Pwllheli, Criccieth and Rhyl lifeboat stations.
The money was donated via Nisa’s registered charity, Making a Difference Locally (MADL), which raises funds in Nisa stores – including those at Haven holiday parks – through sales of Heritage own-label products and selected branded items, which carry charitable donations from the suppliers. The charity has been proudly supporting good causes since 2008 and has donated over £8.3 million to more than 10,000 causes to date.
Leading family holiday company, Haven, has partnered with the charity that saves lives at sea, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The partnership, which launched in March 2018, has seen the RNLI become Haven’s exclusive national charity partner for a minimum of three years. Both organisations are part of the fabric of the British coast, which means they are perfectly placed to share vital water safety messages with families on holiday.
The partnership sees the RNLI become part of the experience for holidaymakers across Haven’s 36 award-winning family holiday parks, supporting its ‘Safe & Secure’ attitude towards water and beach activities. In 2019, Haven will be proactively supporting the RNLI’s Mayday and Fish Supper fundraising campaigns through a combination of engaging on-site events and adventurous activities aimed at encouraging families to learn about the importance of water safety.
Depending on the requirements of individual RNLI lifeboat stations, the funds donated via MADL could be used towards training a volunteer crew member for a 12-month period, crew kit, lifeboat station running costs and generally ensuring that lifeboats are always in a state of readiness should an emergency call come in.
RNLI volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service in the UK and Ireland from 238 lifeboat stations and the charity has more than 1,000 lifeguards on over 240 beaches around the UK. Additionally, the RNLI operates a specialist flood rescue team, which can respond anywhere across the UK and Ireland when inland flooding puts lives at risk.
Ross Martin, Corporate Manager for the RNLI, said of the donation: “We are very grateful for Nisa and Haven’s support and the donation made, which helped take the total raised for the RNLI by the Haven partnership in 2018 to over £120,000.”
There are currently over 2,300 stores participating in the Making a Difference Locally initiative. For more information about the charity visit www.makingadifferencelocally.com or follow @MADLCharity on Facebook or Twitter.
