Join Farming Connect and specialists in the field for the Fertility in the Spring Calving Herd – Planning for Better Results event, held in partnership with AHDB.

Achieving a tight 6 week calving block is vital for any spring grazing block calving herd. This can only be done with well managed cows, who show strong heats, who are observed and inseminated correctly and in time.

Vet and cow fertility expert Kate Burnby will discuss key aspects of the upcoming service period, to ensure cow, farm and farmer is focused and well prepared for optimized results. Terry King from iAgri will demonstrate how cow records and information can be collected and interpreted to assist your herds fertility and genetic progress.

The following will be discussed in the event:

  • Setting and hitting ambitious targets
  • Pre-mating checks—when and what to look for?
  • Nutrition, health and Body Condition Scoring
  • Heat detection techniques, tools and AI protocols
  • Recording and using information for better breeding decisions

Lunch will be provided.
