Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating following incidents involving a blue Fiat Punto car today in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.

At approximately 11:45 this morning a report was received that a blue Fiat Punto had been taken from the Saundersfoot area. Immediate enquiries were commenced, and it was established that a teenage boy was believed to have taken it. Roads policing officers and the force helicopter were deployed, and the safety of the public and the teenage driver were paramount at all times.

Therefore the options available to try and stop the vehicle were limited and had to be considered very carefully whilst observations and sightings were continuously monitored and dynamic risk assessments made. The car caused minor damage to a number of stationary and moving vehicles whilst travelling from the Saundersfoot area to Carmarthenshire on main roads and through built up areas in an erratic manner.

At approximately 12:35pm the Punto was in collision with a Citroen Xsara car in the Burry Port area. Fire and Ambulance were called to the scene. There were two occupants in the Citroen and both were taken to Glangwili hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Fiat Punto was also taken to Glangwili hospital with minor injuries. He has since been arrrested and conveyed to custody where he remains. The A484 is closed, and diversions are in place for recovery of vehicles and examinations to be carried out.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and Police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who has any information in relation to this incident to contact them on 101.
