Officers from the roads policing unit in Carmarthenshire conducted an operation to check the condition and legality of light goods vehicles on Friday 24th January.

Based at Pont Abraham services, officers stopped a total of 85 vehicles between 8am and midday with the following results:

  • 18 Vehicles issued with immediate prohibition orders preventing those being driven further due to the seriousness of defects with the vehicle
  • 6 delayed prohibition orders were issued for minor defects.
  • 13 Fixed penalties were issued for Construction and use offences
  • 1 vehicle was seized for no insurance under Sec 165 RTA 1988

“This was a proactive operation specifically targeting unliveried light good vehicles,” said PC Chris Phillips . “We were looking out for those who pose a potential danger to other road users. While the majority of those we stopped were operating legally, there were those who had decided it was ok to flout the law.

“Operations like this give clear signals to road users that we are out there and will deal with those who break the law.”
