Keep Wales Tidy are organising events and are looking for volunteers, details below:
- 2nd β Beach clean: Ferryside – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.768667,-4.370193&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=18 (Yacht club). (11am β 1pm). Fed up with Litter on the Ferryside Beaches? Join us in a MASSIVE CLEAR UP on Sunday 2nd February. 11-00 – Meet by the Ferryside Yacht club. 13-00 – Refreshments for the workers after the pick. Any contributions to the refreshments would be welcomed (Contact Sue Abbott). Gloves, Pickers and Bags provided by Tidy Towns. Although well-behaved dogs are welcome you may struggle to handle bag, picker and dog! Please keep your dog on a lead and pick up any mess!! There will be no KWT / Tidy Towns officers in attendance.
- 5th β Waste & tyre amnesty: Pontyberem – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.779033,-4.173625&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=17 (Recreation ground car park). (8am β 1pm). Most household waste can be taken along including unwanted furniture, carpets and mattresses, electrical items such as fridge-freezers and televisions, garden waste and tyres (maximum 10 tyres per household). However, paint, garden chemicals, car batteries, gas bottles, asbestos, construction and trade waste will not be accepted.
- 5th β Cleanup: Pontyberem – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.778634,-4.169827&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=17 (Rear of main car park). (10am β 1pm). Pontyberem Environmental Group will be holding a cleanup to mainly focus on collecting flytipped tyres around the village to tie in with the waste & tyre amnesty being held there on the same day. Please bring gloves if possible.
- 19th β Waste & tyre amnesty: Llanybydder – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=52.075497,-4.159441&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=16 (Car park). (8am β 1pm). Most household waste can be taken along including unwanted furniture, carpets and mattresses, electrical items such as fridge-freezers and televisions, garden waste and tyres (maximum 10 tyres per household). However, paint, garden chemicals, car batteries, gas bottles, asbestos, construction and trade waste will not be accepted.
- 20th β Hedge laying: Llannon allotments – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.759234,-4.113307&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=16 (Field next to school). (9.30am β 2.30pm). We will be doing some hedge laying with the Llannon Community Allotment Group. Some tools and equipment will be available but if possible please bring gloves (thorn proof is ideal), bill hook, loppers, bow saw, chainsaw** (50:1 two stroke petrol will be available for use). This event is unsuitable for young children.
- 24th & 25th β Vegetation / litter clearance: Danybanc – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.696149,-4.152242&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=18 (End of lower street). (10am β 2.30pm). We will be assisting the local residents for 2 days to clear up a neglected patch of land. We will be meeting in the lower street of Danybanc (above the cycle track). Some tools and equipment will be available, but if possible please bring: gloves, strimmer* (50:1 two stroke petrol will be available for use), shears, rake, fork. All welcome – Small children must be kept under strict supervision as powered equipment will be operating on site.
- 26th β Waste & tyre amnesty: Llandybie – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.813404,-4.007778&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=17 (Caecoed car park). (9am β 1pm). Most household waste can be taken along including unwanted furniture, carpets and mattresses, electrical items such as fridge-freezers and televisions, garden waste and tyres (maximum 10 tyres per household). However, paint, garden chemicals, car batteries, gas bottles, asbestos, construction and trade waste will not be accepted.
- 27th β Cycle track cleanup: Cefneithin – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.798179,-4.090347&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=17 (Track entrance). (10am β 1pm). We will be working with the Sustrans rangers to clean up the section of cycle route 47 between Cefneithin and Tumble. Meet at the track entrance in Cefneithin (on Carmarthen Road). Tools and equipment will be available, but if possible please bring gloves.

All (unless otherwise stated) are welcome to join the above events. You are welcome to stay for the duration or any time you can give will be greatly received. For all day events (those that continue after 1pm), please bring lunch as we donβt provide this, and the work locations are often not near food outlets / shops.
If you arrive after the designated start time, please ring 07824 504805 when you arrive in case we have moved on to a different part of the site, or come and look for us.
End times are just a guide and events / work days may end earlier if the job is finished.
Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.
You are covered under Keep Wales Tidyβs insurance while at these events.
Please dress sensibly to suit the weather conditions on the day. Suitable footwear should also be worn (not sandals / flip flops, formal shoes); safety boots are ideal, but anything fairly rugged will be acceptable.
