It might be good weather for ducks but bird experts are hoping to spot a much wider range of our feathered friends on a special day at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
Daniel Jenkins-Jones, of RSPB Cymru, will be leading two bi-lingual bird-watching walks around the Garden on Saturday February 15.
Daniel says there is every likelihood that those joining him on the walk will see kingfisher, woodpeckers, dippers and more: “The Garden has a number of different habitats so bird-watchers are in for a treat. There should be dabchicks – little grebes – on the lakes; dippers in the streams; meadow pipits and thrushes on the farmland, as well as woodpeckers and members of the tit family in the woodland, possibly even the scarce marsh tit.
“We can also expect to spot winter migrants such as fieldfare and redwing. Sparrowhawks, buzzards, ravens and red kites are a fairly common sight in the Garden, too.”
The two expert-led walks are at 12noon and at 2pm. Please wear stout footwear and dress appropriately for an hour or so’s walk in February weather.
