Welsh Conservative Candidates – European Election

Dr Dan Boucher

This is Dan’s second attempt to win a seat in the European Parliament, having stood for election last time round in 2014. More recently, he also stood as the Conservative Party candidate for Swansea East in the 2017 General Election. Dan is an active campaigner for the Welsh Conservatives and voted for Britain to leave the European Union. With a PhD from Swansea University, Dan is the author of the book, The Big Society in a Small Country, published by the Institute of Welsh Affairs. Dan works in public affairs and is married to Emma. They have a seven-year-old son, Sam, and live in the Morriston area of Swansea. When he is not out campaigning, Dan is a keen sea swimmer.

Craig Lawton

Craig is another seasoned campaigner, having contested Swansea West for the Welsh Conservatives at the 2017 General Election and the 2016 Welsh Assembly Election. He has also served as an elected councillor. Educated at Swansea University, Craig has worked for a number of Law firms, specialising in housing law. He is currently a Senior Policy Advisor, focussing on education, for the Welsh Conservatives. He also sits on the Welsh Conservative Party Board representing the South Wales West region. Outside of politics, Craig chairs the board of trustees for a regional charity in Wales which works to support older people who want to live independently and remain in their homes. He is also a qualified referee for the Football Association of Wales. Craig is engaged to Louise and enjoys playing golf and baseball.

Fay Jones

Born and brought up in Cardiff, Fay has been an active member of the Conservative Party all her life. She has campaigned across Wales, supporting Conservative candidates at all levels of government. With a background in public affairs and communications, Fay is currently chair of Public Affairs Cymru – Wales’s largest networking organisation for the public affairs community. Fay is passionate about food and farming and has spent much of her career working in agriculture – including a spell at the Department for Environment, Food and rural Affairs. As a member of the National Farmers Union, she spent time in the NFU’s Brussels office lobbying on behalf of Welsh farmers. Support for the farming sector is something Fay is determined to continue. In her spare time, Fay studies Welsh twice a week.

Tomos Davies

Tomos stood in Ynys Mon at the 2017 General Election, and achieved the party’s best result on the island for almost thirty years. He has worked as a senior civil servant in the Wales Office in Whitehall, and as a Special Adviser to two Secretaries of State for Wales. During his time in Government, Tomos helped to deliver a wealth of positive changes for Wales, including the steering of the Wales Bill through parliament and the unlocking of support for the North Wales Growth Deal. Tomos has also worked for the Welsh Language Commissioner. Educated at Ysgol Glantaf in Cardiff and Aberystwyth University, Tomos holds a PhD in International Politics. He is a trustee of the London Welsh Centre and a member of Bangor University’s Council.
