New LEADER Project Coordinator appointed at PLANED

Emyr John has been appointed as the new Project Coordinator with responsibility for the current LEADER project, which PLANED administers in Pembrokeshire.

Previously LEADER Monitoring Officer, Emyr brings a combination of financial and monitoring experience to this key role which will help to support the team, the projects, and Arwain Sir Benfro, the Local Action Group (LAG) responsible for managing the LEADER fund.

Speaking about his new role, Emyr said: “I am really excited about this opportunity to take LEADER forward.  I’m really proud of the work of the whole LEADER team and the projects we have supported across the county. I’m looking forward to continuing this work in my new role.”

Iwan Thomas, CEO at PLANED on confirming Emyr’s appointment said: “Emyr will be a familiar face to many from his role as Monitoring Officer.  His financial and monitoring skills and experience will bring many benefits to this role.

“Emyr’s role will significantly enhance the outcomes of the LEADER project and provide full transparent support for the great team we have here. It will also enhance the relationship with the LAG and help us here in PLANED to be in a strong position to work with our partners to make sure Pembrokeshire is ready for whatever comes to fruition post-LEADER.”

As the Local Action Group for Pembrokeshire, Arwain Sir Benfro brings together a mix of local community representatives, business, third sector, local authority partners.

Arwain Sir Benfro is currently supporting over 65 project ideas from local community groups, organisations and businesses. This is funded through the LEADER programme, which is part of the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020, Funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.

LEADER supports all kinds of activity: mentoring, training, feasibility studies or pilot projects that test an innovative new idea. It can also be used for projects that improve local skills, make better use of a local resource or realise the economic potential of part of the locality leading to a ‘new’ outcome or product.

Penodi Cydlynydd Prosiect LEADER newydd yn PLANED

Mae Emyr John wedi’i benodi fel y Cydlynydd Prosiect newydd ac mae’n gyfrifol am y prosiect LEADER presennol, y mae PLANED yn ei weinyddu yn Sir Benfro.

Ac yntau’n Gyn-Swyddog Monitro LEADER, daw Emyr â chyfuniad newydd o brofiad ariannol a monitro i’r swydd allweddol hon a fydd yn gymorth i gefnogi’r tîm, y prosiectau, ac Arwain Sir Benfro, y Grŵp Gweithredu Lleol sy’n gyfrifol am reoli cyllid LEADER.

Gan siarad am ei swydd newydd, dywedodd Emyr: “Rwyf wedi gwirioni efo’r cyfle hwn i symud LEADER ymlaen.  Rwy’n hynod falch o waith y tîm LEADER cyfan a’r prosiectau yr ydym wedi’u cefnogi ledled y sir. Rwy’n edrych ymlaen at barhau gyda’r gwaith hwn yn fy swydd newydd.”

Dywedodd Iwan Thomas, Swyddog Prif Weithredwr PLANED, wrth gadarnhau penodiad Emyr: “Bydd Emyr yn wyneb cyfarwydd i nifer o’i swydd fel Swyddog Monitro.  Bydd ei gyfuniad o brofiad ariannol a sgiliau monitro yn dod â sawl budd i’r swydd hon.

“Bydd rôl Emyr yn gwella canlyniadau prosiect LEADER yn sylweddol ac yn darparu cymorth amlwg i’r tîm gwych sydd gennym yma. Bydd hefyd yn gwella’r berthynas â’r Grŵp Gweithredu Lleol a’n helpu ni yma yn PLANED i fod mewn sefyllfa gref i weithio gyda’n partneriaid i sicrhau bod Sir Benfro yn barod ar gyfer beth bynnag ddaw ar ôl gwireddu LEADER.”

Fel Grŵp Gweithredu Lleol dros Sir Benfro, daw Arwain Sir Benfro â chyfuniad o gynrychiolwyr y gymuned leol, busnesau, partneriaid yn y trydydd sector a’r awdurdod lleol ynghyd.

Ar hyn o bryd mae Arwain Sir Benfro yn cefnogi dros 65 syniad prosiect o grwpiau cymuned leol, sefydliadau a busnesau. Ariennir hyn trwy’r rhaglen LEADER, sy’n rhan o Gymunedau Gwledig Llywodraeth Cymru – Rhaglen Datblygu Gwledig 2014-2020, a ariennir gan Gronfa Amaethyddol Ewrop ar gyfer Datblygu Gwledig a Llywodraeth Cymru.

Mae LEADER yn cefnogi pob math o weithgareddau: mentora, hyfforddi, astudiaethau dichonoldeb neu brosiectau peilot sy’n rhoi syniad arloesol newydd dan brawf. Gellir ei ddefnyddio hefyd ar gyfer prosiectau sy’n gwella sgiliau lleol, gwneud defnydd gwell o adnodd lleol neu wireddu potensial economaidd rhan o’r gymdogaeth gan arwain at ganlyniad neu gynnyrch ‘newydd’.
