Royal Mail announces annual stamp price rises for April 2011
Royal Mail has announced its annual stamp price rises which will take effect from 4 April 2011.
The announcement follows Postcomm decisions, published on 8 November 2010. The regulator agreed to Royal Mail increasing the price of stamped mail services by 10 per cent on average and individual stamped mail services by up to 13 per cent.
The main price changes are that:
• the price of first and second class stamps for standard items weighing up to 100 grammes will rise by 5 pence to 46 pence and 4 pence to 36 pence respectively
• the cost of a large letter stamp will rise by 9 pence to 75 pence for first class items and 7 pence to 58 pence for second class mail
• the cost of posting franked mail will rise by 3 pence to 39 pence for standard first class items and by 3 pence to 28 pence for second class mail
