Review of the Band of the Month Night with Devils Answer at The Kilkenny Cat
By Barry Bungalow
A hard rock / mellow metal band, reminiscent of the late 70’s glam metal scene, Devils Answer had some of the best stage presence that I’ve seen in a while, managing to get the crowd engaged from the very first song …
Every song had audience participation that livened up the room from a bunch of spectators to an audience that fully embraced the music that was being played, that left me feeling that the crowd were enjoying the music, and left myself and hopefully others alike, with some connection to the music that was being played. The band played their set in two halves because they were the only band playing, but this did not diminish from the performance of the set …
Devils Answer started the second half of their set with a funky original song to let the crowd know they were playing again and to draw the audience back into the performance area, and this worked extraordinary well . Although some of the songs were quite adult orientated, it didn’t stop the crowd getting involved in singing along, or even dancing along without getting offended by some of the song lyrics – . All in good humour ! For the final song singer / guitarist Charlie involved the crowd in his guitar solo by walking round the pub going behind the bar and even outside the front of the pub whilst still singing and playing the song on his guitar.
The Band’s performance tonight proved why they deserve to be the band of the month for March 2014.
