Despite the bad weather, Trixie has continued with her Pond Watch of Dafen Pond. She said:
“Dafen pond this week was looking quite bare! the recent winds have damaged many trees. On my walk around, a pair of Cormorants kept me amused with their antics. I have only ever seen one at a time there before!”
“Did you know? – Cormorants are members of the pelican family, with all four toes on each foot webbed, which helps them in swimming and chasing fish underwater.”

What has Jo been up to?
Well, she’s been on a walk along the Llanelli coast with the grandchildren (was a little blustery, to say the least!!!!)
Jo said:
“We were totally sandblasted by the time we got home! It was lovely to so many Little Egrets and breeding pairs of Red-breasted Mergansers, Green Winged Teal and Gadwall along with the customary Redshanks and even a surprise sighting of a Kestrel that was hovering over Pentre Nicklaus.”

Don’t forget that our next walk is on Saturday 8th March.
We will meet at 10am at the ‘Mill Wheel’ memorial opposite the ‘Harry Watkins’ pub in Felinfoel. We will walk a complete loop around the lower Swiss Valley reservoir.
After the walk, all will be welcome to join us for a drink and/or lunch in the pub. This walk unfortunately is not recommended for the disabled, you do need to be very sure footed to walk this course.
Walking boots or wellies are highly recommended as some parts of the walk are very muddy, uneven and slippy! Any children must be well looked after by a responsible adult. It is a lovely refreshing walk with beautiful scenery all around.
Please let us know if would like to join us thanks Trixie!
