Preparations are underway at the Coleshill Centre to welcome Llanelli Art Society’s first ever Spring exhibition, which will be held over two weeks, from Saturday, April 12-26.

The centre, operated by Carmarthenshire County Council, is delighted to have been chosen to host the exhibition which will feature the works of many talented local artists.

Visitors will be able to view, enjoy and purchase the works, as well as meet the artists and take part in a variety of demonstrations and hands-on activities that will take place over the fortnight, including the Easter weekend.

This is the first time the Art Society has collaborated with the Coleshill Centre to establish a new annual Spring exhibition, building on great relationships that exist between the centre and local artists.

Among those exhibiting their work are artists who run art classes at the centre, for adults with learning and physical disabilities, mental and long-term ill-health conditions.

Executive Board Member for Health and Social Care, Cllr Jane Tremlett, said: “We are honoured that Llanelli Art Society has chosen us to host a news prestigious annual exhibition, which forges even deeper relationships with local artists and the people who use Coleshill Centre.

“It will also give local people a chance to see what we do here at Coleshill, and to take part in demonstrations and activities with artists alongside our service users, staff and volunteers.”

The exhibition will be launched on Saturday, April 12, by council Leader Cllr Kevin Madge.

Art Society Chair, Colin Robins, said: “The establishment of a new annual Spring Exhibition is an important contribution to the cultural life of our town. It has been a delight working with the Coleshill Centre, which has already become home to our monthly demonstrations and meetings. We look forward to further developing our links with centre users and staff.”

The Coleshill Centre, Wales’ first Centre of Economic Inclusion, has been funded through Carmarthenshire County Council’s capital grant programme and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) via the ADREF project, as well as the Targeted Match Fund (TMF) through the Welsh Government.
