Contractors ‘are key to small firm growth’
Freelance workers are key to the long-term growth and stability of small businesses in the UK.
That is according to a new study from recruitment website OfficeCavalry.com, which showed that 93 per cent of smaller firms see freelancers as a genuine alternative to permanent staff members, Personnel Today reported.
Figures from the research also showed that more than half (52 per cent) of the respondents feel freelancers will make a significant contribution to their firm over the next five years.
A further 52 per cent said freelance workers will play a major role in the stability and growth of their organisations.
Andy Turner, founder of the website, told the news provider: “SMEs are changing the way they operate.
“Together with improved access to finance initiatives to do business with the public sector, we are seeing SMEs opt in favour of a more flexible way to do business; one that is cost-effective, scalable and flexible.”
