Shoppers looking for a good deal on their fruit and veg are being offered more, for less, at a Llanelli food co-op.

From April 25, the voluntary-run Coleshill Food Co-op will offer a bigger variety of products whilst dropping their price by 50p.

Bags of fruit, vegetables, salad, stir fry packs can be bought for £3, with eggs and bread also available.

Orders can be placed every Friday, from 10am-4pm, at Llanelli’s Coleshill Centre, with produce collected the following week.

Supported by the Welsh Government-funded Rural Regeneration Unit, the food co-op was launched last year.

As well as benefitting the consumer, it helps disabled and disadvantaged volunteers to gain new skills, as they order, sort, pack and sell the goods to customers.

Cllr Jane Tremlett, Executive Board Member for Health and Social Care, said: “We’re pleased to be working with new suppliers to offer a larger variety of produce.

“The Food Co-op is a great way for people to buy good quality produce at a good price.

“The volunteers are benefitting greatly from being involved in the running of the co-operative. It’s a great venture, which I hope people will continue to support.”

Order by phone, 01554 742625/744239, or email, stajones@carmarthenshire.gov.uk, (Monday-Wednesday for collection Friday).
