Llanelli Community Partnership Open Meeting update

The Llanelli Community Partnership held its open meeting at the Wesleyan Hall in Morfa on Wednesday 26th.

The Partnership which is actively supported by Llanelli Town Council and Community Development Officer Delyth Rowland, brings together community groups/organisations and individuals with aim of supporting community led action.

The meeting agreed to accept the offer from Cynefin, Place Coordinator, Aled Vaughan Owen to work with the community over the next 2 years on resilience and emergency planning and creating a debate on “the Llanelli We Want” which mirrors the National Conversation on ‘The Wales We Want’

Cynefin is a Welsh Government initiative “that brings together local people, groups, businesses and organisations that deliver services to improve where they live or work. It helps them work together to make their community cleaner, safer and nicer to live in”.

In a joint statement by Partnership Chair Cllr Chris Reed MBE and Vice Chair Paolo Piana they said “We felt that the Community Partnership should not just be a “talking shop” but an organisation that could actively work on Community led initiatives that would benefit all the community. Recent events have shown that during bad weather it was often the community that was at the forefront of emergency help and it will be the community that leads the reconstruction process. We will look how we can all work together with the Emergency Services Statutory and Community/Voluntary sector organisations etc.”

They added”By working with the other Groups/Organisations in our Town including Communities First we can best address areas of identified need and over the next two years working with Cynefin work towards the “Llanelli We Want” addressing the issues that concern our communities”

The Partnership holds open meetings every 3 months at various location in Llanelli.
