EXTRA Easter holiday boot camps have been put on across the county in a bid to keep children active.

As well as Bizzy Bee Camps at Llanelli, Carmarthen and Ammanford Leisure Centres, the council’s 5×60 officers will also be delivering the activity camps throughout the two-week break at St Clears Leisure Centre and Ysgol Bro Dinefwr’s Tregib campus and Astro, Llandeilo.

The camps play host to a hive of sporting activities suitable for eight to 13-year-olds, giving children an opportunity to experience a number of activities such as hockey, baseball, raquet sports, netball, multi-skills, rugby, football, gymnastics, swimming, diving, snorkelling, canoeing and rookie lifeguarding.

The programme starts on Monday, April 14 through to April 28 (excluding Bank Holidays).

Carmarthenshire County Council schemes have proved popular in the past and parents are being urged to book early to avoid disappointment.

Executive board member for regeneration and leisure, Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “These activity camps provide an excellent opportunity for getting children involved in fun and learning during the school holidays. We have provided extra camps in Llandeilo and St Clears to enable more people to access these services and get active.”

Bookings are now being taken on a first come, first served basis call Llanelli on 01554 774757, Carmarthen on 01267 224700 an Ammanford on 01269 594517. For Tregib Campus and Astro call Lyn on 07785 593283 and St Clears Leisure Centre call Kate on 07971857367.
