ALL Carmarthenshire beaches have been recommended for their excellent water quality in a new survey from the Marine Conservation Society.
This year’s Good Beach Guide saw 109 out of the 152 Welsh beaches tested during the summer of 2013 achieving the highest water quality standard.
Cefn Sidan beach Pembrey is on track to be awarded the Blue Flag for a record breaking 22nd time in the next month.
County executive board member for regeneration and leisure services Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “Carmarthenshire is blessed with seemingly endless beaches at Cefn Sidan and Pendine with several golden sandy gems in between.
“These latest test results are great news. Not one fail in Carmarthenshire.”
Other beaches and attractions to have been recommended for their water quality include Llanelli’s North Dock, Ferryside, Llanstephan and Pendine.
All beaches with Blue Flag status are included in the guide, as well as some voluntary participants which are not popular enough to be designated for testing under the EU Bathing Water Directive.
Standards are set to get stricter by the end of the 2015 bathing season, with the implementation of a revised EU Bathing Water Directive.
