Historic Aberglasney Gardens in Carmarthenshire will this summer play host to a series of exciting music events.

It is The Pool Garden that will be the very special setting for ‘Friday Night is Music Night!’ on the first Friday of every month from May to August.

There’ll be live music and the chance to kick off your shoes, sit back and relax, or if you’re feeling energetic – the opportunity to take to your feet and dance the night away.

The first event takes place on Friday May 2ndwhen The Dukes and the Duchess Band take centre. The Dukes and the Duchess was formed specifically to play the music of Duke Ellington. The band under the direction of Jim Luxton, features the outstanding voice of Sarah Benbow and some of the most experienced jazz musicians in Wales. Inspired by some of the most classic jazz melodies and arrangements of all time, this talented nine-piece always put on a memorable performance.

On Friday June 6th, the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings we’re joined by Vera Lynn Tribute – Gerri Smith. Gerri who is from Newport has performed on ITV’s Good Morning and ‘Stars in their Eyes’. She has sung at venues including Exeter Cathedral, Hammersmith Town Hall, St.David’s Hall in Cardiff, Deauville in France for VE day celebrations and The Imperial War Museum. During 2005 she appeared all over the UK as Vera Lynn as part of the 60th anniversary of World War II.

Aberglasney will celebrate American Independence Day as well as the 15th Anniversary of the Gardens opening to the public on Friday July 4th with Pat Grover and The Hawkes. They are a great band who play Chicago blues. Pat Grover is a veteran of the British Blues scene having come out of the North East in the same band that spawned Fleetwood Mac.

The final live music event in The Pool Garden takes place on Thursday August 1st – details coming soon!

You can bring your own picnic for these events to enjoy in the Pool Garden, or why not book a table on the terrace (which will be undercover) for what will hopefully be some warm summer evenings at Aberglasney! Call the Tearooms directly on 01558 668996 to reserve a table.

Tickets for the event itself are priced at £10.00 for adults, children (aged 5-16) are FREE. Aberglasney members are eligible for a 20% discount on these prices. You can buy your tickets at our ticket office on the night. Gates open at 6.30pm.
