Congratulations to all the winners of the Hywel Dda Flu uptake awards for the 2018/19 influenza season. All wards/departments in Hywel Dda UHB that achieved over 65% flu vaccine uptake for the 2018/19 season were added in to a draw to win one of four food hampers kindly donated by Castell Howell.

Across the health board 66 departments (with 5 or more staff) managed to achieve 65% uptake or above.

The four winning wards/departments were:

  • Cysgod Y Cwm – Amman Valley hospital
Catrin Jones receiving the award with her staff
  • Tregaron Wards and Out-patient departments
Occupational Health Nurse Llinos Bates presenting the hamper to Sister Bethan Jones and her staff
  • Hywel Dda Adult Speech and language therapy service
Alison Thomas, Head of Adult Speech and Language Therapy and staff

  • Ward 4 – General surgery, Withybush Hospital
•Head of Nursing Carol Thomas delivering to Sister Susan Charlton and staff

This year the overall uptake for the flu vaccine in health board staff reached 5537, which is more than any season previously. Furthermore, five wards/departments reached 100% uptake which is a huge achievement.

Head of Occupational Health, Vanessa Davies said “Hywel Dda doesn’t underestimate all the hard work that has gone on both behind the scenes and at the frontline to achieve this figure, and I thank every flu champion, members of the Occupational Health team and supporters of the flu vaccination programme this year for their part in achieving this milestone. I would also like to thank every member of staff who helped us protect our patients, colleagues, friends, family and communities by being vaccinated

Hywel Dda yn brechu mwy o staff yn erbyn y ffliw nag mewn unrhyw dymor blaenorol

Llongyfarchiadau i holl enillwyr gwobrau cael brechlyn ffliw Hywel Dda ar gyfer tymor ffliw 2018-19. Cafodd pob ward/adran ym Mwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda a lwyddodd i gyflawni canran o dros 65% o ran y staff a gafodd eu brechu rhag y ffliw ar gyfer tymor 2018-19 eu cynnwys mewn raffl i ennill un o bedair hamper fwyd a roddwyd trwy garedigrwydd Castell Howell.

Ledled y bwrdd iechyd, llwyddodd 66 o adrannau (sydd â 5 neu ragor o staff) i gyrraedd 65% neu fwy.

Dyma’r pedair ward/adran fuddugol:

  • Cysgod y Cwm – Ysbyty Dyffryn Aman
Catrin Jones receiving the award with her staff
  • Wardiau Tregaron ac adrannau cleifion allanol

Eleni, roedd cyfanswm nifer staff y bwrdd iechyd a gafodd y brechlyn ffliw wedi cyrraedd 5,537, sy’n uwch nag unrhyw nifer mewn tymor blaenorol. At hynny, llwyddodd pum ward/adran i gyflawni canran o 100%, sy’n llwyddiant enfawr.

Dywedodd Vanessa Davies, Pennaeth Iechyd Galwedigaethol: “Nid yw Hywel Dda yn tanbrisio’r holl waith caled sydd wedi digwydd y tu ôl i’r llenni ac yn y rheng flaen i gyflawni’r ffigur hwn, a diolchaf i bob hyrwyddwr y brechlyn ffliw, aelodau o’r tîm Iechyd Galwedigaethol, a chefnogwyr y rhaglen brechu rhag y ffliw eleni am eu rhan yn cyflawni’r garreg filltir hon. Hoffwn hefyd ddiolch i bob aelod o staff a’n helpodd i amddiffyn ein cleifion, ein cydweithwyr, ein ffrindiau, ein teulu a’n cymunedau trwy gael eu brechu.”
