Special concert has flower power

Symphonica Tywi will be helping celebrate Wildflower Weekend with their annual midsummer concert at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

The popular performance – on Saturday June 22^nd – will have a positively floral flavour to reflect the Garden’s two-day event taking place that weekend.

In the stunning surrounds of Lord Foster’s awesome Great Glasshouse, the world’s largest single-span glasshouse, the 55-piece symphony orchestra will strike up at 7.30pm and play until dusk.

The event is a highlight of the season and promises, once again, a feast of popular classical music  – and, this year, boasts the international soprano skills of multi-talented Dr Julie Yuan-Ru Hsieh.

Conductor Mike Cottam said: “The floral theme to this year’s concert provides us with a mouth-watering way of popular classical music including  Jurassic Park by John Williams, Walk to the Paradise Garden by Delius, Song to the Moon by Dvorak, Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers, Out of Africa by John Barry, Overture to The Wasps by Ralph Vaughan Williams, together with other arias from famous operas and musicals sung by Julie Hsieh with the orchestra.  Many other much-loved pieces from the world of cinema complete the night’s programme.  We are indeed very proud and privileged to have such a supremely-talented soprano singing with us this year. She will help us make it a very special night to remember.”

The event sponsored by the National Botanic Garden’s Growing the Future project which aims to champion Welsh horticulture, plants for pollinators, the protection of wildlife and the virtues of growing plants for food, fun, health and well-being.  This project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.

Bydd Symphonica Tywi yn helpu ni i ddathlu Penwythnos Blodau Gwyllt yn eu cyngerdd canol haf blynyddol yng Ngardd Fotaneg Genedlaethol Cymru.

Bydd y cyngerdd poblogaidd – ar ddydd Sadwrn, Mehefin 22ain – yn canolbwyntio ar flodau gwylltion i gyd-fynd â digwyddiad deuddydd yr Ardd sydd hefyd ymlaen y penwythnos hwnnw.

Yn amgylchedd hyfryd Tŷ Gwydr Mawr yr Arglwydd Foster, tŷ gwydr un-rhychwant mwyaf y byd, bydd y gerddorfa symffoni 55-darn yn cychwyn am 7.30yh ac yn chwarae nes iddi nosi.

Mae’r digwyddiad yn uchafbwynt y tymor ac mae’n addo unwaith eto, i fod yn wledd o gerddoriaeth glasurol boblogaidd – ac, eleni, mae ganddynt hwy sgiliau soprano rhyngwladol aml-dalentog Dr Julie Yuan-Ru Hsieh.

Dywedodd yr arweinydd Mike Cottam: “Mae thema flodeuog y cyngerdd eleni yn rhoi i ni amrywiaeth o gerddoriaeth glasurol boblogaidd gan gynnwys Cerdded i’r Ardd paradwys gan Delius, Walts y Blodau gan Tchaikovsky, Goddiweddyd i’r Gwenyn gan Ralph Vaughan Williams, Parc Jwrasig gan John Williams, Can i’r Lleuad gan Dvorak ac Allan o African gan John Barry, ynghyd ag arias eraill o operâu a sioeau cerdd enwog a ganwyd gan Julie Hsieh gyda’r gerddorfa. “Mae llawer o ddarnau cariadus eraill o fyd y sinema i’w gael i cwblhau rhaglen y nos.”

“Yn wir, rydym yn falch iawn o gael soprano mor dalentog yn canu gyda ni eleni. Bydd yn ein helpu i’w wneud yn noson arbennig iawn i’w chofio. ”
