The Good Friday morning service was followed by an ‘Open air’ service on the chapel lawn. Most of the congregation stayed for this act of witness and the hot cross buns that followed. An offering for ‘Open Doors’ raised over £500.

On Easter Sunday morning all the children and youngsters present were given an Easter egg and again it was good to see the chapel so full with many friends and visitors and some of our young people home from college and university

On Easter Sunday evening Karen and Brian were baptised as believers. Both gave their testimonies before being baptised and the service was times of real celebration and thanksgiving. They will be received into membership of the church next Sunday evening.

CHURCH ON TUESDAY

Our Tuesday morning service was held at Bethel last week. it was good to share with our friends at Bethel in an act of worship and witness in the Seaside area. In the coffee time that followed we wished well to Moira and Trevor Jones who celebrated their 60th wedding on 19th April. Anniversary. Bible studies recommence this week led by our Minister. All are welcome – 7.30pm on Tuesdays and 1.10pm on Wednesdays.

FAREWELL

As a church we bid farewell to Russell and Brenda Blandford who are leaving Llanelli to move nearer to their daughter Caryl and her family in Rutland. While we are so very sorry that they are leaving us we are happy for them both as they move to be closer to their family. Russell and Brenda came to Greenfield some years ago and since that time have been very much part of our church family.

Before too long Russell was elected to the diaconate and soon after when we were in need of a new church secretary was appointed to this very special office in the life of the church. During his time as secretary Russell has served the church with great dedication and faithfulness. We have also benefited from his wise council and advice in many matters; and how we will miss those humorous and timely introductions to the announcements on a Sunday morning! Russell and Brenda have represented the church in the meals on wheels service in the community and have also attended the Bible study and prayer meetings faithfully for all the time they have been with us. On Sunday our Minister presented them both with a gift on behalf of the church and wished them God’s blessing to the future.

PENDURYS MALE CHOIR

An evening not to be missed! Saturday 3rd May at 7pm. Excitement is growing for the imminent visit of the renowned PENDYRUS MALE CHOIR to Llanelli. Cerith Owens of Loud Applause says ‘this will be the first visit to Llanelli of Pendyrus and tickets are in great demand’.

Sharing the stage and in total melodic contrast will be Lleisiau’r Cwm under the baton of Catrin Hughes; this ladies choir has achieved high distinction over the years. Samuel Morris the up and coming young singer from Llanelli will be guest soloist with an organ recital by Andrew J. Pike.

This is a charity concert organised in conjunction with the Llanelli and District League of Hospital Friends in aid of their appeal for a new ultrasound machine to diagnose prostate cancer at Prince Philip Hospital.
