Green Gathering

The Green Gathering festival near Chepstow, from 1st-4th August, promises a fabulous weekend for music and live entertainment fans.

With an eclectic line-up across four stages, each with its own unique atmosphere, festival goers can relax to gentle rhythms or go wild on the dance floor to upbeat grooves.

Legendary festival favourites rub shoulders with up-and-coming talent, solo artists, punk bands, politically conscious singer-songwriters, protest bands, global grooves, psychedelic sounds, folk tunes, swing, dance ska, reggae and rap.

Green Gathering regulars, The Fabulous Red Diesel will take the audience on a truly wonderful romp through jazz, swing, latin, blues, soul and funk.  These multi-instrumentalists bring brand new original music to the party through retro forms.  Dance, laugh and cry to this fabulous quartet.

Up- and-coming Smiley and the Underclass, a punky reggae explosion from London via Japan and the Caribbean, have become a firm Green Gathering favourite since their formation in 2014.  Releasing their debut album last year, they spent 2018 selling out shows from London to Tokyo and packing out festival tents in the UK.  Expect mind-melting guitars, razor-sharp lyrics and crushing basslines to move mind, body and soul.

With a voice described as having ‘elemental powers’, Abbie Jebbers is a singer/songwriter from Swansea whose songs echo similarities to her idol, Joni Mitchell.  Having sung in a range of bands over the years she is now making her mark on the folk scene of South Wales.  Jebbers writes from the heart about her own life experiences; she has featured on the Jamie Owen show on BBC Radio Wales and has had airplay across various local and national radio stations.

Prudent Primate are a Bristol-based psych-funk band.  Fusing influences from dirty funk, modern jazz and psychedelic rock, the music takes you on a journey from tight minimal grooves, through colourful psychedelic soundscapes to infectious, hard hitting riffs.  Prudent Primate have been fast making a name for themselves, headlining major venues across the Bristol modern jazz scene.

MC’ing the Soundscape Solar Stage at this year’s Green Gathering as well as performing her own set, Danieal is a multi-talented soul reggae diva, a vegan and committed environmentalist, whose ethos reflects the aims of the festival.  Her intense, self-penned songs will take listeners on a roller-coaster of emotions.  Danieal’s powerful vocal tones combined with the natural energy she evokes on stage have wowed audiences on an International scale.

As well as the music offering, The Raconteurs’ Delight Stage will be hosting spoken word and cabaret acts and family friendly entertainment, with poets including Selena Godden, comedians, clowns and story tellers.

The 99% Bar boasts a wide assortment of DJ’s and special guests.  Reggae, dance, trance and disco beats can be found here throughout the festival.
